If you go on the couch Bear will try and sit on you. If you sit on the floor Bear and Tank will both wiggle their butts onto your lap. No chair is too big or small for Bear to climb if it means he gets to sit on you.
He and Tank both, however, graciously accept a no. Including for face kisses, which they will try to give you with earnest affection. They also know not to sit on the couch with you when you have food. Bear’s eyes will say he’s never had a bite to eat in his sixty-pound LIFE, but neither of them whine for human food or have tried to eat off a plate.
They are both fully potty trained. The San Diego Humane Society says they are good with “respectful kids and other dogs.” I, their foster parent who has made this website in their honor, have neither dogs nor children. But I believe it when I see their spirits.
Tank Goliath loves belly rubs, pushing his big ol’ head into your hand, chewtoys (he doesn’t chew anything not made for dogs), snuggles with his brother, going on walks, sitting on your lap like he is a chihuahua, and (a sweet thing his first owner shared) chomping on plastic water bottles.
Tank is not a fan of watching Bear go for a walk without him and he tolerates his weekly baths that are helping his skin be less itchy. He is deaf, which has been more endearing than difficult to witness. The sweet boy thinks a vacuum is something humans push around for fun and has no idea what fireworks are. He’s motivated by praise (pats on the head, thumbs up, petting his bum) and love more than treats.
Bear loves to sit on you, sleep on you, cuddle with you, eat snacks, eat breakfast and dinner, sniff the grass and follow bunny trails through the neighborhood like the hounddog he is, nap in the sun, and sit on you. I think he has a lot of energy for his 13 years.
He is a big boy, overweight by at least ten pounds, but he handles stairs really well and never wants a walk to end. He also hates baths and being left behind while his brother has his walk, though both pups are often easily distracted by food. His spirit feels like a giant teddy bear puppy old man.
I've loved fostering Bear and Tank! and I think the world needs to know there are two super sweeties lookin to snuggle.
If you want two loving, silly dogs in your home, you couldn't find anyone better than Tank and Bear. They were absolute shelter favorites: their foster coordinator said she had never seen shelter volunteers give any dog such a warm sendoff – “They really love Bear and Tank.”
You can check out their profiles on SD Humane and contact the shelter directly if you’d like to meet them. This website is in no way affiliated with the San Diego Humane Society, I'm just their foster parent and want to tell everyone how precious and ready they are to live in a real, cozy home. Please share with your friends, too!
